June and July have been so busy I almost forgot this month’s newsletter, but here we are now. Three new books are available on the website now: Touching the Harp Strings, A Life with Books, and Gentle Wonderings 1:12. Harp Strings is available in a standard edition and a deluxe edition. The standard edition is $25, and you have your choice of blue, green, or orange covers. There is currently only one orange copy of the deluxe edition available, but I hope to have more available soon. Deluxe copies have gilt edges and a fitted slipcase and are $45.

Touching the Harp Strings contains selected poems written by David Haskel Cohen throughout his life. 45 pages printed on a fine Mohawk writing paper. Quarter bound in faux leather and hand marbled papers by Robert Wu with silk moire endsheets. 2-1/8”x2-7/8 oblong. An edition of 200. regular copies $25. Of those, 20 will be available as deluxe copies with gilt edges and slipcase, $45.

Book VI in the Book Culture Series. A Life in Books tells the stories of what one man has done for his love of books and the outcome.

The sixth installment in the Book Culture series, A Life with Books, has been a special project. It is the first edition that I have attempted to complete all at once. I have learned much from the project. In the past I have made only a portion of each edition before moving on to the next book, creating some difficulties for me. I am having difficulty completing some editions now because the specific materials used are no longer available, so even if I do not complete all the books in an edition, they will all be printed, and the materials will all be prepped and ready for when I do go to complete them. I found out that it takes me about two months to complete 200 identical books.

Three new books are making their way through the process to reality. The horror book Ashtophet and the eighth Book Culture book, I Met Another Dead Man Today are both proofed and awaiting the authors’ final approval while the seventh Book Culture book, Organizing the Home Library is in the compositing stage and will be proofed soon. I just received the art for the 2024 Booksby Press/ZeroFaded pocket calendar. Expect to see them available in October.

Along with these Booksby Press publications I have been working on not one, not two, but three commissioned books. Two of them are Book of Remembrance photo books and the other is a customer’s personal story. Each is an edition of between one and six copies. We have not figured out how to add custom books to the website yet, but if you are interested in having your own personal book with your content, drop an email and we can make that happen. Booksby Press media has expanded to TikTok with videos highlighting unusual miniature books and the bookbinding process at Booksby. I am considering making longer instructional videos available on YouTube if there is any interest in that.
