Marching Together: Updates from the Grand Knight

Brother Knights and Ladies,

The month of March has a feeling of anticipation in the air. We may be fooled by a couple of false springs, but we know the real one will be here soon. The urge to get outside is strong; to plant a garden , plant flowers, go fishing, or just be outside and enjoy nature. I once did a job for a guy that owned a bicycle shop. He said his busiest time was the second nice weekend of spring. The first nice weekend everyone stayed at home and worked on the outside of their house and yard. The second nice weekend they wanted to get out and play. I try to use that advice for lent. We put our work in first during lent, to enjoy our time of the Easter Season.

A brief note of some events at our council. Joe and Jen Missey chaired a basketball free throw competition for boys and girls in February for the community at large. A big thanks to them for their efforts and dedication to this community building event. At the Knight's monthly meeting it was voted to purchase a sublimation printer. This printer can be used to make promotional materials and awards. Having our own printer for all events to use, will save us time and money as we can create our own materials. Please keep in mind the Lenten fish fry's here at the hall on Fridays. These are another community and parish building event. Last but not least, we anticipate another successful St. Rose Auction this year. Encouraging our hope for the continued success of St. Rose School!

Fraternally Yours,
John Ziegler, Grand Knight

Ladies,

Thank you to everyone who attends the monthly meetings and your input on items we go over. Greatly appreciated. We spent most of the meeting going over the updates for the By-Laws. I will be doing the final updates for the March meeting and hope to be able to send them off to the Chair couple for approval. If anyone wants to seek office of President, Vice President, Treasurer and we have one trustee whos time is up they can do so at the April meeting. We vote in the May meeting as the new officers must be turned in on the pink sheet by June 1st to the chair couple.

We did vote and approved to buy the silverware dispensers for the plastic forks, knives and spoons. This can be used for Bingo, Fish Fry, Whole Hog, 5th Sunday Breakfast, Shooting matches. This will create less waste than the pre-wrapped silverware. These should arrive in a few weeks.

Whole hog will be April 14th. We have catering May 11th and 31st. Horseshoes begins May 31st and 4th of July will be June 29th. Anyone interested in helping with any of these events please let me know.

During Lent, please come and support the Fish Fry if you have time on Friday evenings. The group has a lot of great food at great prices. Homemade dessert, free tea and coffee.

Clubroom Chronicles: What's New This March

Spring is coming and with it comes warmer weather. We know our members love being outdoors as the temperatures rise. This year we are going to do our best to have as many outdoor events as possible. To start we will be having an Adult Easter Egg Hunt, Children's Easter Party, and Sunday Jam Session this March. All the information on these events are in the events section of the newsletter. Make sure you save the dates.

We also want you to know we are always looking for feedback or new ideas you have to help the clubroom thrive. Some of our most fun events and ideas have come from our members, so keep 'em coming!

As always, we thank our members and visitors both old and new for all your help and support in the clubroom.

Cheers,
Clubroom Committee

Finance Report

We gained two new members, Cory Sprous and Joshua Ott who took the Rite of Initiation at the last meeting. Let's give them a hearty welcome!

I regret to inform of the passing of two of our members, George Krodinger and John Richeson.

We still have about one third of members who still have not paid their 2024 dues. I encourage you to get your dues paid up for the health of the council. You will be able to pay for your dues online as well. Click the button below to pay online.

Cordially,

For Lent, I gave up chocolate... now I'm praying for the strength to avoid the kitchen!

Spiritual Report

Expanding on the theme of Lenten reflection, let's dive a bit deeper into the spirit of the season. As March unfolds, bringing with it the promise of spring, we often find ourselves in the midst of Lent, a period marked by introspection, sacrifice, and yes, occasionally, a bit of humor over our human foibles. It's a time when we might forgo our favorite treats, like chocolate, only to find our resolve tested at every turn. The beauty of this journey lies not just in our sacrifices but in our ability to smile at our slip-ups and keep moving forward. This season, as we embrace change and welcome growth, let's remember to find joy in the small moments, laughter in our challenges, and kindness in our hearts as we navigate the path of renewal together.

Saint Patrick

The Patron Saint of Ireland

St. Patrick, beyond his role in converting Ireland to Christianity, symbolizes the power of faith and resilience. Captured and enslaved as a teenager, his enduring faith during captivity led him to God. After his return to Ireland as a bishop, his missionary work laid the foundation for Christianity's spread across the country. St. Patrick's use of the shamrock to explain the Holy Trinity illustrates his innovative approach to teaching Christian principles. His life story, celebrated on March 17th, serves as a reminder of spiritual conversion, the importance of forgiveness, and the strength found in faith. St. Patrick's legacy continues to inspire not only in Ireland but around the world, embodying the Catholic virtues of faith, hope, and charity.
