Blooming in Service: A Message from the Grand Knight

Dear Brother Knights,

As we journey through Lent, we are called to make sacrifices. The external ones—like no meat on Fridays and fasting on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday—are common knowledge and seen by others. But the deeper sacrifices we make and the good deeds we do in silence are known only to God, and our reward will be in Heaven.

There is great honor in doing good for its own sake, without recognition or reward.
There are many people who help out with our council—more than I or anyone else knows—and we are all better because of it.

If you haven't heard yet, there will be a 50th Anniversary Mass for our Chaplain, Fr. Anderson, on Sunday, May 25th at 11:00 AM, during Memorial Day weekend. A luncheon reception will follow at the hall.

The new disc golf course is mostly complete, and as of this writing, the inaugural tournament will have taken place. Keep an eye out for info on how council members and non-members can join the disc golf club and support the course.

Work on the upstairs hall bathroom is underway. Once completed, it will be larger, brighter, and more inviting. Combined with other updates to the upstairs hall, this will help make it more appealing for rentals. Thank you to the committee for your work on the design and layout.

The Fish Frys are in full swing! I encourage everyone to come out and enjoy a meal and good company. A big shoutout to the army of volunteers who prep, cook, serve, and clean up. They serve over 300 meals a week—for 7 weeks in a row!

Another important event is our semi-annual Whole Hog Sausage Dinner in April. It takes a team to make it happen. If you’re able, please consider helping out. It's one of our biggest fundraisers that helps keep our hall running. Or, simply join us for a delicious meal and bring some family and friends with you.

Lastly, I would be remiss not to mention Bob Roth. Bob is the heart, soul, and brains behind our hall’s operation. He's like the Wizard of Oz—quietly working behind the scenes to keep everything running smoothly. Bob has been facing serious health issues lately. Please keep him in your prayers during this difficult time.

Wishing you a prayerful, reflective Lent and a joyful Easter.

Fraternally,
John Ziegler, Grand Knight

Spring Forward with Faith & Fellowship

Dear Anns,

Welcome Spring, time change, and Lent! As the world blooms around us, we’re reminded that spring brings fresh beginnings—and with it, Lent, a 40-day period of reflection, prayer, and fasting. Our Fish Fry at the KC Hall is in full swing with lots of great food and fellowship. We hope everyone’s had a chance to enjoy it!

The concession stand will now open on April 25th and will run 14 weeks through August 8th. If you'd like to volunteer for one or two Friday evenings, please let me know—we’d love your help!

A special thank you to Dave Sprous, who has agreed to clean the bathrooms during those 14 weeks. The Columbia Anns will be paying Dave for his time and efforts.

Beginning April 8th, 2nd-week bingo will move back into the kitchen. If anyone is available to help, I would greatly appreciate it! The menu will include mostly cold sandwiches, chips, chili, and chili dogs—no fried foods this round.

Mark your calendars for May 25th, when we’ll celebrate Father Anderson’s 50th anniversary of being a priest! The Columbia Anns will be preparing the food, and the men will be covering the cost.

Also, if you are available to work at the Whole Hog Dinner on April 13th, please let me know whether you can help in the morning or evening.

Enjoy this beautiful warm weather and sunshine—spring is here to renew our spirits!

Very Truly Yours,
Vicky Moss, President

A Toast to Family: More Than Just a Bar

Dear Members,

The Clubroom isn’t just a place to grab a drink—it’s a space where friendships are built, laughter is shared, and memories are made. We come together not just for a cold beer or a game on TV, but for each other. When one of us is down, others step up. When one of us celebrates, we all raise a glass. Whether you’re stopping in after a long day, catching up with old friends, or volunteering behind the bar, you’re part of something bigger than just a club. You’re part of a tradition of camaraderie that keeps our organization thriving.

This month, we want to take a moment to recognize the behind-the-scenes efforts that keep the Clubroom running. Over the past few months, when others haven’t been able to step up as often, so many of you have volunteered your time—jumping in to work, run events, or give in your own way. Whether it's covering a shift, helping with an event, or just offering an ear or hand, it hasn’t gone unnoticed. It’s this spirit of giving and stepping up for one another that makes our Clubroom more than just a bar—it makes it a family.

Upcoming Events & Reminders:
Make sure to check out our flyers below for details on upcoming events, including our Kids' Easter Egg Hunt, Kentucky Derby Party, and more! There’s always something happening, so stop by and be part of the fun.

Here’s to another great month at the Clubroom—where everyone knows your name, and we share more than just a drink.

Sincerely,
The Clubroom Committee

Bloom Where You’re Planted: Serving with Purpose in Every Season

April brings with it the soft stirrings of spring—warmer weather, blooming flowers, longer days, and the promise of renewal. Nature awakens around us, reminding us of God’s power to breathe new life into all things. As Catholics, this season mirrors the joy of Easter and the hope we carry through the Resurrection. Just as the earth begins to bloom, we too are called to grow—right where we are.

This month’s theme, “Bloom Where You’re Planted,” is a reminder that each of us is placed in a unique spot, with our own talents, gifts, and challenges. We may not always feel like we’re in the ideal conditions to make an impact, but faith teaches us that God can use us wherever we are. Whether you're leading a major project, showing up quietly to serve at bingo, preparing desserts for a fish fry, or offering a listening ear to someone in need—you are blooming.

The Knights of Columbus were built on this very idea. Our founder, Blessed Father Michael McGivney, recognized a need in his parish community and acted. He didn’t wait for perfect timing or more resources—he planted seeds of faith, service, and charity where he stood. And now, generations later, those seeds have grown into a global brotherhood committed to charity, unity, and faith.

So this month, let’s challenge ourselves to bloom.
  • Volunteer for an event, even if it’s just for an hour.
  • Say yes to helping with a meal or cleaning a table.
  • Invite a friend or neighbor to join us at a fundraiser, a meeting, or Mass.
  • Pray more intentionally for our fellow members and our Church.

Growth doesn't always happen in grand gestures—it often comes in quiet consistency, rooted in love, nurtured by service, and made beautiful through faith.

This April, as you see the flowers bloom around you, may it be a reminder that you, too, are blooming. And when we bloom together, we make our community more vibrant, faithful, and strong.
Thank You!
