Thankful

Another holiday season is approaching. The leaves are falling, as are the temperatures, and I find myself once again feeling thankful for our many blessings.

It would be easy to focus on the negative. So many things in this life are hard, frustrating, even tragic. I think I'd rather look at the good things and take stock.

There is truth on the notion, "if you think things can't get any worse, just give it time". With that in mind, I choose to be thankful in this moment.

We recently started watching a TV show, called 1883. We are fans of the Yellowstone series, so when we heard about 1883, and that it's a prequel story to Yellowstone, we were in.

The harshness of the 19th century wagon trail across the frontier west is told in riveting fashion. I can hardly imagine how hard a journey that truly was. When I sit comfortably in my RV with modern conveniences like a furnace, air conditioning, and a refrigerator, or I travel 500 miles in a day on paved highways and a cozy driver's seat, how could I ever understand what those people went through to get to Oregon or California?

So today, I am thankful. Thankful for every explorer, adventurer, and pioneer who blazed the trail before me, finding a pass through the mountains, or where to safely cross the rivers. The sacrifices they made in search of a better life have helped make it possible for me to live a blessed life today, the RV Life.
